A Special Project:

Strengthening the Deathlayer Breed

At C&C Homestead our Deathlayer project is one of our most meaningful endeavors. The Deathlayer is an ancient and stunning breed, but we discovered that many lines have become heavily inbred, leading to challenges with health and vitality. To address this, we’ve embarked on a mission to strengthen the Deathlayer breed through careful hybridization and selective breeding.

Our hybrids, which we call Deathlacers, are the result of crossing Deathlayers with other carefully chosen breeds to introduce genetic diversity, improve health, and maintain the breed's iconic beauty and egg-laying ability. These hybrids will then be bred back to Deathlayers in future generations, creating a stronger, more robust line that honors the breed’s history while ensuring its longevity.

This is more than just a breeding project—it’s a commitment to the preservation and improvement of a remarkable breed. By working hard to restore the vitality of the Deathlayer, we hope to share these magnificent birds with future generations of chicken keepers.

Thank you for following and supporting our efforts! If you’d like to be part of this journey, a limited number of our Deathlacers are available as chicks or hatching eggs. Together, we can help create a stronger, healthier future for the Deathlayer breed.
